How to Pray for Your School Year
How to Pray for Transitioning Back into the School Year
Starting a new school can be scary no matter what grade you are entering. As the month of August brings mixed emotions of excitement, anxiousness, dread, and hope, here is a prayer that I would pray if I was starting a school year as a student again and worried about transitioning back to school:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with the break of summer. I pray that you help me to use the rest and energy gained from summer to have an amazing start to the 2025-2026 school year. Please help calm my nerves as I make this new transition. Help me to have good time management this year with all I need to accomplish. And give me the grace to transition back to having homework, tests, and other deadlines that I need to work towards. Help me to balance spending time with friends and family and relaxing while still accomplishing what I need to. Help me to put in the work and effort to make this my best school year yet. Help me to know what to say yes to and what to say no to this school year. Help me to have a good balance of activities that I enjoy while not being overwhelmed or overworking myself. As my schedule changes, give me the grace as my days look different. Help me to remember that change can be good and to stay positive as I get used to the new school days. Help me to remember that I can do all things through You. Bless this year and give me Your grace and peace in all things.
Verses:
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
How to Pray for Relationships During the School Year
Starting a new school can be scary no matter what grade you are entering. As the month of August brings mixed emotions of excitement, anxiousness, dread, and hope, here is a prayer that I would pray if I was starting a school year as a student again and worried about relationships:
Dear Lord,
Bless me with good relationships with my peers and all the teachers that I interact with for this upcoming school year. Help me to have friends in my classes and have good people to eat lunch with each day. Help me to strengthen current friendships and to make new ones as well. Help me to surround myself with people who are a positive influence on my life and help me to be a positive influence on them. Bless my relationships with all teachers and that I would have favor before them. Help me to learn well from them and to always show them respect. Help me to enjoy their classes and to learn more about You through them. Help me to be a blessing to those around me each and every hour of every day and remember that every person I interact with is a child of Yours. Help me to love others as You have loved me and to be a light that shines Your love towards others.
Verses:
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
How to Pray for Giving God Glory During the School Year
Starting a new school can be scary no matter what grade you are entering. As the month of August brings mixed emotions of excitement, anxiousness, dread, and hope, here is a prayer that I would pray if I was starting a school year as a student again and worried about giving God the glory:
Dear Lord,
Help me to remember that my identity comes from you and not my grades or achievements or accomplishments. Help me to respond with peace and grace when things do not go my way or if I get a bad grade. When things go my way, help me to remember that it’s all for your glory and to seek to honor you in everything I do. Help me to remember whether it is a small task or a big accomplishment in the school year, I am called to give you glory in each and every part of it. Help me to remember that all I can do is my best. Help me to learn and grow as a student and to takeaway lessons that you want me to learn that help me get to know you better. As I transition back to the routines of school, help me to stay diligent in finding time to seek You each day. Please be my strength when I get tired or when I get lazy. Help me to always put forth my best so that I honor you as best I can in everything that I do, and please help my actions to point others towards You.
Verses:
Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Psalm 29:2
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
